WeWhoWander.com falls into three major “spaces”: the personal space (“my world”), community space (friends, instant messaging, minis, etc - all of which you can access within your world), and project space.
The idea behind the "project space," or "Projects" is to provide a method for individuals to come together and share in the development of a full-length literary work (science ficition novel, biography, how-to manual, et cetera). This is not limited to those who love to write. Rather, all people who simply have a love for literature have a part to play in the Project process.
Wanderers will have the ability to join in a Project as an author or a critic. Authors will be assigned a specific section to write (they might be responsible for writing chapter eight, for example). Meanwhile, critics will guide the process by providing feedback to the authors. For example, one Wanderer would write the first chapter, a second Wanderer would write the second chapter, and so on. However, writing each section will not be an independent process. Rather, each author will interact with the other authors and communicate regularly with the critics who will be reviewing his or her work and providing feedback. Additionally, authors will interact with the WeWhoWander community through message boards. Once the novel (to use a novel as an example) is completed, it will be part of the Projects database and viewable by all Wanderers and Visitors.
Projects is a very exciting feature of WeWhoWander.com. The idea of bringing the normally solitary process of writing into an environment that inspires collaboration and community is exhilarating - if not a bit challenging. More than anything, Projects is one of the means of bringing literature - the process of writing - back from the over-commercialized, publish-or-die mentality. Projects give talented authors and dedicated readers a forum to simply do what they love and to have an audience that embraces their art.
What ideas do you have for a Project? Since there can only be so many authors and critics working on a Project, how can we get even more Wanderers involved in the process? Is "critic" too harsh a word? What title would you use instead of "critic"? Send us your suggestions.
Do you want to be an author or critic on one of WeWhoWander's first Projects? On the very first day that WeWhoWander.com goes live, Projects will be available and your WeWhoWander team will already have chosen people to begin the creative, collaborative process with fellow Wanderers. If you are interested in contributing to a Project, we need to review samples of your work (authors) and would like to learn more about you and your passion for literature (authors and critics). You can contact us via email at Projects@WeWhoWander.com.
